Rattle & Snap is a Tennessee whiskey aged four years using the Lincoln County process, which filters the spirit through charcoal. It is produced in the style of sour mash whiskey and rests at 47% ABV.
A few successive tastes and we find the sweetness from the nose, it finally starts to mellow. The finish holds nicely for a four year old whiskey. It has a nice charcoal and sugar of the oak which combine to a sense of dark roast coffee.
The taste is sweet tart with barrel spices throughout the taste. The corn component stands out on the palate. Lots of vanilla on the finish. Simple and straightforward. Would use as a mixer for a daily dram.
