Ransom Bourbon is produced at a 40-acre farm and distillery in coastal Oregon using rainwater collected from the distillery roof. It is distilled in direct-fire alembic pot stills and made from a four-grain mashbill of 59% corn, 19% Ida Gold malted barley, 14% rye and 8% wheat. The bourbon matures in toasted American oak barrels with components aged from 2 to 16 years. It is priced at around $34.95.
Ransom Bourbon tastes familiar but is completely new. For me, it is a refreshing step away from Ransom’s wine barrel aged spirits. The nose and palate are both bold yet balanced. The mouthfeel is incredible and the spiciness is just the right punch.
