  • Nose:

Gorgeous nose, bright and full of life. Rye spice, black tea, yuzu, honey, orange peel and some pear.

  • Taste:

Moderate palate, a good deal of black tea here again, herbal spice, honey, pear, cracked pepper and a touch of spearmint and sandalwood. The aromatics from the nose translate to the palate, and while it isn’t syrupy rich it’s full of flavor and has a pleasant viscosity.

  • Finish:

Long finish. A light prickle of heat, but that lovely black tea, sandalwood, lemon, pear, cracked pepper and candied ginger character persists on the finish.

  • Overall:

While I give the nod to Batch 1, this release is special and full of all sorts of unique character that’s handpicked it pair with MGP’s killer rye.

  • Score:

    88
