Pierre Ferrand Renegade Barrel No. 2 is aged in a combination of oak and chestnut barrels, making it an "eau de vie de vin" brandy rather than a cognac, which must be aged exclusively in oak. Crafted from Grande Champagne grapes, it includes Ugni Blanc cognacs aged five to seven years, initially matured in oak barrels, and finished with chestnut barrels containing a small amount of 25-year-old cognac.
Long, really too sweet now, this is a little cloying. A shame, because the juice was probably pretty good in the first place. Why torture some fine Cognac?
