  • Penelope Barrel Strength is growing nicely, and the introduction of more tannin here is really helping things. This batch features perhaps a bit more fruit - including the new banana note - but drinks exceedingly well.

  • Nose:

Sweet honey, banana bread, toffee, creme brulee and some light nuttiness. A hint of toffee, some nice oak/tannin character and a light pepper note. Sweet and inviting, with a welcome amount of oak compared to past releases.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, no sign of ethanol despite the proof. Sweet and enticing, there's this banana bread note to it that jives really well with the toffee, bit of tannin, honey and caramel.

  • Finish:

Long finish, pepper, light fruits and big caramel and vanilla bring everything home nicely.

  • Overall:

Penelope Barrel Strength is growing nicely, and the introduction of more tannin here is really helping things. This batch features perhaps a bit more fruit - including the new banana note - but drinks exceedingly well.
