Peligroso Tequila Anejo is made from 100% blue Weber agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It is aged 12 to 18 months in American oak barrels, originally ex-Tennessee whiskey barrels, and bottled at 42% ABV. The tequila is packaged in an opaque black bottle and hosts a suggested retail price of around $50.
Very agave-forward for an anejo, there’s still a lot of that creamy vanilla and burnt caramel that you get in good old anejos here. There’s a bit less alcoholic heat than on the reposado, the slightly increased sweetness compensating for the less of spicy, herbal notes.
This velvety, burnished gold spirit has a vanilla and pina-colada aroma and vanilla custard flavor. Pair it with a creamy dessert like dulce de leche or flan.
