Paul John Indian Single Malt Oloroso is an Indian single malt whisky produced in Goa. A limited edition, it is aged for 3 years in American bourbon barrels and finished for 4 years in sherry casks. Bottled at 46% ABV, this 750ml bottle is priced at around $109.99.
The taste is thick, spicy, and well-rounded with notes of clove, white pepper, cardamom, and a hint of ginger complemented by dark chocolate, Mandarin Oranges, and a hint of almond oil.
Palate has a lot to offer but for some it can be a little bit hot. Spice hotness is followed by a creamy texture, chocolate notes and dark fruits. Finish is long, lingering and really pleasing.
I am loving this whisky. It’s bold, it’s rich, it has a nice complexity to it and the sherry is well done without being overly done. This is a balanced and easy drinking whisky that keeps the senses happy.
