Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskey crafted by the Sazerac Company at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Aged in American white oak for a decade, it receives only a touch of Kentucky limestone water before bottling, making it "nearly barrel-proof."
I didn’t expect this whiskey to be as fun as it was – fruity, sweet, full of life. It’s not the most complex bourbon I’ve ever tasted, but it is undoubtedly an enjoyable one (and, I imagine, is the world’s best accompaniment to peach cobbler on a warm summer evening).
The taste is spicy with cinnamon and allspice notes, dark chocolate, honey, caramel candy, and charred oak. The finish is long with subtle spices and touches of caramel and nuts.
