  • All around it’s a Birthday Bourbon edition that you’ll not only want to seek out, but make sure that you open up to enjoy. It would be a shame to keep collecting dust on a shelf as the whiskey waiting inside is well worth enjoying while you can.

  • I enjoyed the higher proof, resulting in a bolder flavor profile. It is certainly a sipper, especially as your palate grows accustomed to the bolder flavors and other nuances emerge.

  • While it’s unabashedly, aggressively sweet, the whiskey has enough dusky spice and earthiness to it to bring it out of the sugar bowl, at least for a little bit. The finish makes me think of a sweet tea… but, hey, not too sweet.

  • Nose:

    Sweet cream, rich cherry and strawberry. Pungent pipe tobacco. Passion fruit, vanilla bean and werthers caramel. Nice oaky note.

  • Taste:

    Rich banana fosters, medium mouth feel. Some heat, honey, cherry and toffee. Excellent oak structure.

  • Finish:

    Short to medium in length, nice oak here with cocoa, toffee and strawberry. Bit of heat, but not bad.

  • Overall:

    This is pretty nice - certainly the best I’ve had in a long time from the Birthday Bourbon line.
