Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 7 Year Bourbon is aged seven years and bottled at 100 proof. Produced in Kentucky, it follows the standards of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, meaning it was distilled in a single season, aged in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled by the same distiller. It comes in a 750-milliliter bottle and hosts a suggested retail price of $59.99 — far more affordable than your usual extravagantly priced Old Fitzgerald releases.

Soft and sweet on the nose. Praline, brown sugar, black cherry, plum, butterscotch and coffee grounds. So far so good.
Moderate mouthfeel. A big cherry note hangs around, oscillating between black and luxardo. It's joined by soft oak, white chocolate, graham cracker, buttercream frosting, blackberry, coffee and a pinch of cinnamon.
Long finish; smoked wood slides through initially, joined by saline and more cherry. Then, sweet desserty notes come through: toasted marshmallow, crème brûlée, almonds.
A sweet, gentle wheater that delivers some lovely rich notes. It's not overly complex, but it is super tasty. Old Fitzgerald's 7-year-old Bottled In Bond Bourbon delivers sweetness galore with enough oak to keep things interesting. The result is a very tasty, balanced bourbon. It's not as dazzling as Heaven Hill's (much) pricier expressions in the Old Fitz line, but it's very tasty. How easily this will be found around MSRP remains to be seen (color me skeptical), but at that price point I think this is a great bourbon that won't let you down. Regardless, kudos to Heaven Hill for finding a way to release a (theoretically) mid-shelf bourbon that feels in the same vein of the usual Old Fitz profile.
