Flavors of iced maple candy and walnut mix with the tartness of ripe peaches and musty leather. The finish is slightly woody, with integrated vanilla icing sugar sweetness and a spark of sweet-spicy heat.
On the palate, the herbal character fades considerably and sweeter flavors of vanilla, marzipan cookies dusted with powdered sugar, and chocolate-covered cherries.
One of the younger bourbons in the Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond decanter series so far, the Fall 2023 Edition doesn’t disappoint with a bright and lively balanced flavor profile.
Old Fitzgerald’s latest 8 Year Bottled in Bond offering is a testament to the idea that older doesn’t always mean better, especially in bourbon. It’s a noticeable step up in almost every way compared to 2023’s earlier, 10-year release.
This is another great example of a whiskey that has absolutely nothing wrong with it. It's completely crushable, drinkable, and enjoyable - though I know Heaven Hill is capable of so much better than this.
