Old Elk’s single barrel program lets retailers, whiskey clubs and collectors select custom barrels from five mashbills, either remotely or at the Fort Collins, Colorado distillery. Each American white oak barrel is toasted, charred and reviewed by master distiller Greg Metze. Bottles are delivered within five weeks with custom labels noting mashbill, age and bottling date. Options include an 8-year high-malt bourbon, 7-year wheat whiskey, 7-year sour mash bourbon, 6-year European rye and a 6-year rye finished 2 to 5 months in 14-year-old Barbados rum barrels. Participants may also create custom micro-blends.
