Old Bones Rye 10 Year Reserve is a whiskey aged for at least 10 years, crafted from a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, it is bottled at 110 proof. Batch, #2 consists of 280 cases and features a unique finish, with 20% aged briefly in Australian apera sherry barrels.
Out of the gate, it's caramel and vanilla, with a bevy of fruit, soft florals, and chocolate slightly trailing. Oak and smoke take the lead on the first turn, then an explosion of butterscotch and Spanish flan setting the pace.
Old Bones Rye Whiskey 10-Year Reserve is a very lovely rye whiskey. It has a very nice sweetness to it, and I love the minty beginning and end. It is definitely a fairly strong whiskey, and one that burns a bit when it hits your throat.
