  • Layers of smoke waft back in as the finish arrives, though here things feel a bit unbalanced and slightly saccharine, almost gummy as the whisky’s tenacious grip on the tongue endures.

  • Nose:

Sweet, creamy, rich and wine forward. Peat is unmistakable, though there's plenty else happening. Lemon curd, syrupy vanilla, touch of creme brulee.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, there's a touch of heat but it's well behaved given the proof. Sweet and creamy, lemon bar, creme brulee, viscous and rich. Lots going on, a great balance of sweet, smoke, peat and a touch of floral character.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Powerful, rich, packed with blackberry, creme brulee, vanilla bean, lemon curd, ashy smoke and bbq ribs. All over the place, as Octomore often are, all delicious.

  • Overall:

Octomore does it again, with a blend of aggressive peat, sweet wine, big fruit character and an ashy finish.
