House Review
Nose:
Peach rings, pear preserve, honey, slivered almond and a touch of ash. Big, sweet vanilla bean, fresh bread, honey and toffee.
Taste:
Thin to moderate mouthfeel. Sweet caramel, a touch of vanilla, almost a warm croissant note. Light, sweet, nice almond character for complexity. Touch of pepper on the back palate.
Finish:
Long finish, complex and interesting. Sweet buttercream, pears, pepper, light oak. Faint sweet wine note that keeps the whiskey rolling.
Overall:
It's hard not to love this bottling from Oban. The distillery certainly isn't known for overwhelming complexity, but this often overlooked Distiller's Edition is nothing to ignore.
