Nixta Licor de Elote, produced by Destilería y Bodega Abasolo in Jilotepec, Mexico, is made from 100% ancestral Cacahuazintle corn. Harvested from the high valleys near Nevado de Toluca, half the corn is roasted while the other half remains raw. The mix is macerated in raw distillate, then combined with a base of nixtamalized corn, water and piloncillo. The distillery, located at 7,800 feet, employs local workers and strives to preserve Mexico’s corn heritage through traditional production methods.

  • Overall, I would definitely recommend Nixta Liqueur for a variety of purposes. Price-wise, it is difficult to make comparisons because this corn liqueur is the first of its kind. Personally, I think the price point is very reasonable and worth it.
