Mythology Distillery Best Friend Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a blend of a 15-year-old Kentucky bourbon and two high-rye Indiana bourbons aged 3 and 5 years. The 15-year bourbon has a mashbill of 78.5% corn, 13% rye and 8.5% malted barley. The 5-year bourbon mashbill is 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, and the 3-year bourbon mashbill is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley. It is produced in Colorado, bottled at 88 proof and priced at around $52.
Its sweet palate goes down quite easy and is contrasted by a spicy finish, but I still wished for more. Instead what I got was a more traditional style bourbon that is approachable and reliable, just like man’s best friend. 10
Again, this is an overall pleasant bourbon and a great indication of the very exciting things that are sure to come from Mythology Distillery. Pick up a bottle or two, you won’t be disappointed.
