Mount Gay The Cognac Cask Expression was distilled in Barbados using a column still and tropically aged for four years in ex-cognac casks sourced from the house of Rémy Martin in France. The French oak casks, made from large grain Limousin forest wood, were chosen to enhance the character of the rum. Bottled at 58% ABV without chill filtration, this release is the eighth in the Master Blender Collection by Trudiann Branker. A total of 6,276 bottles are available through select global retailers.

Sweet and rich, with baking spices and a pronounced note of ripe cherries. Layers of brown sugar, raisins, dates, vanilla and toffee evoke the aroma of sticky toffee pudding. The sweetness is balanced by a grounding presence of oak, adding depth and structure.
Incredibly smooth, especially given its 58% ABV. A subtle salinity enhances notes of baked apples, dried fruit and caramel. The influence of cognac casks is noticeable but well-integrated, complementing rather than overpowering the core rum character.
Lightly tannic with lingering notes of wood spice, gently rounded out by a warm molasses sweetness.

The Cognac Cask Expression is a standout, offering a beautifully integrated cognac influence that enhances rather than overshadows the rum. Best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its nuanced, delicately balanced flavors.
