Montelobos Espadin Mezcal Joven, produced in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico, by agave expert Iván Saldaña, is made from 100% organic Highland espadin agave. The production involves roasting the agave for five to seven days, crushing it with a mule-drawn stone tahona, natural fermentation and distillation in small wood-fired copper pot stills.
Montelobos Mezcal Joven is a wonderful maguey spirit. It has a light but appealing smoky quality which is typical of mezcal, but this smokiness is kept in check allowing us to enjoy the underlying fruity flavour of the Espadin agave.
