The powdery, chalky nose offers soft notes of mugwort tea, petrichor and soy milk.
Gently bubbly, very sweet and earthy all in one. The palate is a bit syrupy and similar to a soda. I wish it had a little more effervescence to cut through all the sweet, but I enjoy the unique flavor, which may not be for everyone. Past the milky, slate-like, sugary entry is coconut cream, taro root, lychee jelly and a hint of nutty kava.
More nutty kava on the short finish. I'm left with a gentle tingle on the tongue, which is a fun sensory experience.
If you are new to kava or functional nonalcoholic beverages, sip this slowly to gauge its effects and stay in control of the experience. I have a higher tolerance, so this one gave me a subtle calm. I appreciate it as a new way to enjoy kava after previously drinking it only straight from the shell. This flavor pleased me but did not wow me, with the soft tingling sensation on the tongue being the part I liked most. I’m looking forward to trying the other drinks Mitra9 offers!
