Produced in Roxbury, Connecticut, Mine Hill Bourbon is made with a mashbill of 60% corn, 33% rye and 7% distillers malt. Bottled at 82 proof, it is mashed, fermented, distilled and barreled on-site.
It’s more agreeable on the palate, where some of the wood overload is tempered by notes of menthol and a clearer, grassy rye quality. There’s finally a hint of sweetness on the finish, though it’s got an indistinct brown sugar quality to it that doesn’t really elevate things much.
