Millstone 100 Rye is a Dutch rye whisky bottled at 50% ABV. It is made from 100% rye grain and column distilled, then matured in new charred oak barrels.
I really like it. It stands up to the price tag, and it certainly stands up to equivalent-priced rivals west of the Atlantic. Get your wallets out, fellow rye fans.
The end result is an intense whiskey, with caramel and stewed apricot aromas. The palate reads like gingerbread, integrating maple, allspice and ginger with a warming grind of black pepper.
