  • It’s not my favorite of the Castle Hill releases to date, but it’s definitely a winner — and a fitting end to a stellar trilogy.

  • Though it tastes like it's from a certain Tennessee distillery, the extra aging time in Texas helps enhance the entire sip.

  • Nose:

Deep, layered, rich and delicious on the nose. Plenty of brown sugar, crème brûlée, caramel, vanilla custard, butterscotch. Also a floral lavender note, plus cappuccino, banana pudding, peaches and cream and French toast.

  • Taste:

Super rich with a thick viscosity. This is very lovely. It has an excellent balance of oak and tannin. I typically get a recurring dusty-oak, peanut-shell note in Milam and Greene's whiskeys, and that’s here but doesn't dominate the way it does in some of their other whiskeys. It's joined by a ton more going on. It’s super creamy and has notes of mocha, peach, orange, vanilla, cherry, cinnamon, raisin bread, gingerbread.

  • Finish:

Long and sweet. Beautiful vanilla all the way with a kiss of oak and a great heat level.

  • Overall:

This is splendid and the best Milam and Greene I've tasted to date.

  • Score:

    92
