  • The finish is long with lingering spices and hints of maple syrup, anise, and oak. Excellent!

  • Nose:

Rich clove, honey, toffee, a hit of caramel and musty tobacco. No sign of youth here, which is encouraging.

  • Taste:

Minty and enticing on the palate. Lovely honey, mint, faint pepper, a touch of dill and some sweet cream here. Savory, sweet, spicy, delightful. Not at all youthful which colors me surprised.

  • Finish:

Medium finish - spicy and vegetal with a bit of brown sugar. This is quintessentially rye forward. Boy is it spicy.

  • Overall:

Really damn good for a 4 year old rye. Lots of body, complexity - Wilderness Trail, erm, Mic Drop knocked it out of the park with this for the kind of age. I prefer this to MGP rye around the same age.

  • Score:

    85
