Founded in 2023 by Kaveh Zamanian of Rabbit Hole Distillery, the Mary Dowling brand honors Mary Dowling, a pioneering woman distiller from the pre-Prohibition era. This bourbon is crafted from a mashbill of 65% corn, 25% wheat and 10% malted barley. Bottled at 91 proof, it retails for about $55.

Fresh strawberries and cream, coupled with frosted flakes and baked doughnuts dusted with powdered sugar. There's a slight white floral component; picture white lilies and the creamy, bubblegum-scented aroma of tuberose. At first whiff, it's immediately apparent that this bourbon is heady and light on its feet.
High-toned and lifted, with maple bar doughnuts. Mary Dowling Winter Wheat is nice and lean with plenty of confectionary qualities. Picture whipped cream, sugared almonds and just a kiss of raspberries. There's a distinctive, pastry-driven spine that keeps things cohesive throughout.
A prickle of heat adds a nice texture here and gives what would be an otherwise easy-breezy bourbon a bit of "oomph." The strawberry returns, and Mary Dowling Winter Wheat finishes with baked shortbread and waffle cone.
Mary Dowling Winter Wheat is an elevated, approachable and easy-drinking brunch bourbon. It's unabashedly pretty, with soft red fruit aromas like strawberries and raspberries, coupled with that throughline of freshly baked pastry.
