  • This is a bourbon you keep going back to to find more flavors and then you find the glass empty. A good result.

  • While it’s perhaps less complex than RC6 or some of the Private Selection releases we’ve tried, it’s a delightful bourbon from start to finish, and it never feels overblown, even at full strength.

  • Nose:

Rich and sweet on the nose, lots of caramel, fudge, toffee, some butter cream and a hint of char. Sweet but not cloying, just enough oak is present to keep some balance, at least initially.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate as well. Honey, some faint melon, oak tannins and vanilla bean. A bit of heat, medium mouth feel, and plenty of oak to keep things from straying too sweet. There's a praline note here I really like, and it almost reminds me of caramel corn as well.

  • Finish:

Long finish. Lots of cocoa, caramel corn, honey, vanilla bean ice cream and a bit of char.

  • Overall:

Great from start to finish, this is a limited edition that can please, while also being available. I like what Maker's is doing here, and just like that I'm headed back for another glass.
