Mackmyra Brukswhisky is a Swedish single malt released in 2010 as part of Mackmyra’s core range. Bottled at 41.4% ABV, it is matured in first-fill bourbon barrels, with additional finishing in sherry and Swedish oak casks. A small amount of smoky malt is also used to add complexity.
This whisky fell a bit short for me. I would have wanted to turn up the volume a few more notches in most areas. It feels too toned down, but maybe that is on purpose? It does say on the product sheet that it is 'created to be enjoyed at any occasion'. T
The palate, however, is rather different: fresh, grassy and peppery. A pleasant duality in this dram then and overall, an easy-drinking nectar to drink in good company!
