The 5th Edition in Macallan's Edition line, this specific bottling sees maturation in 3 types of vessel: 1st fill barrels, 2nd fill barrels and American Oak hogshead.
Extremely smooth on the palate, with more dried fruits, ripe plums, milk chocolate, new leather, and black pepper. The finish is medium in length, with leather and dark chocolate.
Overall, not the most impressed with this edition, especially compared to 4 and 6. This is more barrel forward than malt driven and the peppery wood influence isn't doing so hot.

House Review
Nose:
Tons of caramel initially, wafer cookie, oak, dry pepper and some spice. Not super complex, far from a sherry bomb.
Taste:
Thin to medium mouth feel. Barrel forward to say the least - quite a bit of tannin, toffee, vanilla bean, caramel, pepper and almost a hint of rye spice.
Finish:
Medium finish. Dry, a bit of caramel, pear, rising bread.
Overall:
Overall, not the most impressed with this edition, especially compared to 4 and 6. This is more barrel forward than malt driven and the peppery wood influence isn't doing so hot.
