Lux Row Small Batch Albariño Cask Finish is a Kentucky bourbon produced at Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, Kentucky, and released as a distillery-exclusive offering. It is made from a blend of two mash bills: 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley; and 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. It is aged for four years, then finished for six months in Albariño wine casks sourced from the Iberian Peninsula. Bottled at 105 proof, it typically retails for around $60.

  • A very pleasant bourbon. The finish works nicely with the distillate: the expression reads a touch young, but it’s very delicious stuff, especially for anyone who likes citrus flavors.

  • The palate is where this whiskey truly shines. The initial taste leads with ripe apricots and a green tea flavor. As the tasting experience unfolds, flavors of Lemonheads candy and honey join the mix, enhancing the overall complexity.

  • Nose:

    Nose is filled with caramel candies, orange marmalade, plus cinnamon, white peach. Pleasant, sweet and citrusy.

  • Taste:

    Slightly youthful palate. A bit nutty with melting butter, cinnamon, peppercorns, cream soda, Peach Rings.

  • Finish:

    Nice chocolate-covered almonds note leads the finish, followed by tangerine, white pepper and peach, butterscotch.

  • Overall:

    A very pleasant bourbon. The finish works nicely with the distillate: the expression reads a touch young, but it’s very delicious stuff, especially for anyone who likes citrus flavors.
