Luca Mariano Single Barrel Rye Whiskey is produced at Wilderness Trail Distillery in Kentucky and bottled by Luca Mariano. It's aged in American white oak casks and bottled at varying proofs by batch.
The taste has a nice spiciness with notes of black pepper, cinnamon, clove, and allspice complemented by brown sugar, honey, and dried fruits. The finish is long and spicy, but still has a nice balance with dried fruits and brown sugar in the background.
A lot of spice up front, some grassiness leading into the middle palate but none of the bitterness. Texture is fairly thick, more viscous than creamy. The vegetal undercurrent runs through, and the short finish has a touch of dark chocolate.
Aside from the imbalance there, the proof doesn't hit that much and it offers an easily drinking experience. On another thought, this can be a great base for my eggnog this year!
