Longrow Peated is a heavily peated, double-distilled Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky produced at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland. The barley is kiln-dried over peat for up to 48 hours, reaching approximately 50 to 55 ppm phenols, and the whisky is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks with no age statement. Bottled at 46% ABV without chill filtration or added color, it typically retails for around $70.
The peat and lemon carry on through the palate with more hints of campfire and pepper, and there’s an almost oily feel to it. Water does this no favor and should be avoided, as it mutes the complexity with far too much ease. More
The first tale speaks of creamy and rich vanilla caramel, and delicate fruits, and the second tale finds you taking a walk on the beach on a cold day surrounding yourself with medicinal and vegetal notes from the sea breeze intertwined with smoke from the hearths of the nearby village.
