This is an independent bottling of spirit distilled at Ledaig (Tobermory) and bottled by Single Cask Nation. Distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2018, this release was matured in a 2nd fill sherry cask and bottled without coloring or filtering at cask strength.
SCN has picked a great one with this cask. Good, wine forward Ledaigs are much harder to find these days, but this one sticks all the things I love about the profile.
Thick, syrupy and rich mouth feel. Mild heat. Lots of syrupy fruits - currant, toffee, figs, blackberry, stewed fruits. Then storms in the ashy, mineral forward peat. Lightly pungent, but more mineral and wood forward peat and smoke. Powerful and complex.
Finish:
Long, powerful and pungent. Berries, stewed fruits, toffee and ash. Lots going on, with great balance.
Overall:
