  • The finish has a lingering brininess, soft pepper and peat, and a hint of chocolate.

  • In some respects, it even tastes younger than 10 years old, but I’m balancing that with bonus points for distinctiveness.

  • A very, very fine Ledaig, for sure. It’s just that the thousands of indie bottlers around us are having even better ones these days. Only IMHO, of course

  • The smoke is more akin to roasting coals rather than wood and finishes with some baking spices.

  • This wasn’t super peated as some people might think but I think it is rather well balanced and has a fair amount of oomf and flavor to it. Sweet, peat, and citrus are a winning combo in my book.

  • Nose:

Huge mineral wiff, earthy, dirty peat. Faint iodine. Faint fishy marine notes. Vanilla cream, confectioners sugar. Nice brine and pepper component.

  • Taste:

Thin, but no heat. Sweet vanilla, lots of chalky, mineral peat smoke. Some pepper, caramel and cream.

  • Finish:

Long, earthy and smokey. Lots of minerals here. The peat smoke is more earthy, mineral and peppery than ashy or super fish like.

  • Overall:

This is really great, especially for a younger core expression. Nice work, Ledaig.
