  • Nose:

The nose is deep and complex with plenty going on. A big powdered ginger note is joined by cocoa powder, plus almond, orange peel, meringue and frosting. The longer the whiskey rests in the glass, the more of a sweet, confectionary profile it takes on.

  • Taste:

Great viscosity. The palate is spicy with some bright citrus. Cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, orange, barrel char, root beer and some pleasant mocha toward the back of the tongue.

  • Finish:

Oak and char hit first, followed by sweet marshmallow, cinnamon and frosted orange scone.

  • Overall:

    An excellent, balanced rye whiskey.

  • Score:

    89
