  • This is a slightly more balanced twist on a well-worn formula — albeit plenty sweet — that showcases why people really like drinking Larceny.

  • Nose:

The nose is bright and sweet, layered and full of sweet caramels, flaky pastry, honey, toffee and a cake batter sweetness. There’s a pinch of cinnamon, rich pepper and just a touch of oak.

  • Taste:

Rich on the palate, full of baking spice and cinnamon. Easily the most cinnamon I’ve seen on a larceny, but it’s balanced with rich and viscous caramels, bright sweetness and a hint of cola, ginger and toffee.

  • Finish:

Long finish — less cinnamon here and more focus on rich brown butter, maple, toffee and a hint of salted caramel.

  • Overall:

This year’s Larceny has a lot going on and is less straightforward than other batches. I’m not as big into cinnamon, but there’s no denying this is well put together.

  • Score:

    88
