Laphroaig Lore is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky bottled at 48% ABV. It blends single malts aged seven to 21 years in ex-bourbon, European oak and Oloroso sherry barrels, as well as quarter casks.
The flavors stay generously long on the palate, finishing with a smoky-salty, warm heat. This is a perfect cool weather whisky that begs for fireside sipping.
This is not your classic peated Laphroaig, as it is smooth and sweet. Instead, Laphroaig Lore is a lighter and spicier whisky that other expressions of their core range, and beautifully balanced. The icing on the cake is the chili bite at the end of the dram, that continues in the aftertaste.
The palate shows integration between the oaks, lending a smokehouse aroma. Water lightens, but you still get that smoky smear of phenol at the end that tells you this is Laphroaig. Like it.
