Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve is an impressively priced entry in Beam's bourbon catalogue featuring a 9 year age statement and hefty 60% ABV bottling proof.
The vanilla core is still there (and the bourbon, we should add, is still 9 years old), but the most noteworthy addition is considerably more wood character.
Knob Creek never fails to impress, even when the price is removed from the equation. These solid, complex, releases are a must have for any bourbon lover, and can be enjoyed anywhere from the golf course to the board room.
For the most part Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve is a good value. This one didn’t impress me much, but it won’t dissuade me from buying more in the future.
Overall this is an interesting way to get a more focused experience of the more popular Knob Creek bourbon. The aroma across all of the treatments was the best feature, and also the most complex and inviting aspect.
This is one of the easiest drinking high proofers. The sweet, flavorful palate is very addicting making it very easy to put down a few of these. I tasted this with a few friends of different degrees of bourbon tasting experience and everyone couldn’t get enough.

House Review
Nose:
Honey, crisp peanut brittle, waffle cone and toffee. Decadent and inviting, with a hint of ethanol.
Taste:
Thick and rich on the palate. A bit of heat, though it is to be expected with a proof like this. Fudge, caramel, a bit of waffle cone and some peanut brittle. Complex.
Finish:
Long finish. A bit of ethanol once again, though not punishing. Complex, with caramel and a hint of oak notably sticking around.
Overall:
Knob Creek never fails to impress, even when the price is removed from the equation. These solid, complex, releases are a must have for any bourbon lover, and can be enjoyed anywhere from the golf course to the board room.
