Released in 2020, this is Knob Creek's 100-proof, 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon. A blend of bourbons (at least not labeled single barrel), this is considered one of the best bang-for-your-buck bourbons on the market.
I like it just fine, but I don’t think it’s heresy to suggest that the 9 year old expression is better balanced and, at less than half the price, a better buy all around.
Vanilla, molasses, and cedar come through on the palate, leading to a warming finish with hints of chestnut and orange peel. It's a welcome addition to the line, and great for sipping.
In this case, Knob Creek 12 Year is a testament to the fact that sometimes it’s worth paying a premium for an age stated bourbon. Compared to standard release Knob Creek Small Batch bourbons of the past, 12 Year delivers the richest flavor profile to date.

House Review
Nose:
Quite bright on the nose. Fresh berries, sweet cream and caramel. Light peanut brittle. Nougat, a pinch of pepper.
Taste:
Medium mouth feel - really creamy overall. Nougat, pepper, a hint of peanut butter and cocoa. Fruity on the back palate - kind of a hint of cherry. Unusual, but delicious.
Finish:
Long finish. Sweet brown butter, chocolate covered cherries, peanut brittle and creme brûlée.
Overall:
Excellent release from Beam on this one - once again blending to a profile that’s enticing and unique. Big fan.
