Aroma is soft and elegant with fruity and candy notes bolstered by malty ones. The Palate moves through a similar pattern, but with less complexity albeit more heaviness and richness. The finish should be made into breath mints or gum or a candle; it’s just delightful. I can’t recommend this whiskey enough.
Bold, attention-grabbing flavors of orange, honey, vanilla, dried ginger, pepper, and jam-slathered pastries, with caramel, ground almond, and a tantalizing, zesty grapefruit bitterness toward the end.
The finish finds hints of tobacco and barrel char, giving this a more brooding, savory conclusion than most Irish whiskeys. Despite its relatively advanced age, this is a whiskey that still feels young — perhaps undeservedly so, to be honest.
The aroma of this light-gold whiskey mixes notes of faint smoke and fresh apple. On the palate, vanilla, citrus and dried fruit mingle with an oaky astringency and strong alcohol heat.
