Spanish Earl Single Malt Irish Whiskey is triple distilled and initially aged nearly four years in ex-bourbon casks. The whiskey is then split for finishing in ex-Imperial stout and ex-aged Jamaican rum casks for a minimum of three months before being recombined and bottled. It is sold in a 700ml format at €47.
The finish is all tar and raw wood — though perhaps a hint of immature rum is evident here, its petrol notes not really helping matters. Best with a side of potato chips.
