After sampling the whiskey cask-by-cask, Kinahan's Malt Master selects only those casks which are as mellow, rich and flavorful as the original Kinahan's Irish Whiskey produced centuries ago. A few drops of water opens up more fruity notes and boosts the spices as well. The finish is very long, spicy, with a nice tropical fruitiness in the background.
It's a bit peppery hot on the tongue, but the mid-palate is pleasantly assertive with the malt and the finish is likable with a slight mint flavor and light char smoke.
On the palate, the traditional honey notes come on after the citrus character fades a bit, with the finish offering curious notes of graham crackers and brewed tea.

House Review
Nose:
Young, grainy notes. Ethanol. Toffee, currants and vanilla. Light and effervescent. Not a lot here.
Taste:
Thin and a bit of heat. Light caramel, faint raisins. Signature Irish peach ring fruitiness.
Finish:
Short, not super rich but not as hot as expected in the nose.
Overall:
I, more or less, am putting this in a similar camp as the Kavanagh 12 year. This is clearly distillate that is being funneled away from another product line and being bottled here. It's not great - it's not terrible...but it's not great. Young, thin and generally hotter than it should be for the proof.
