  • In the end, this one turns out to be a fairly straightforward and well-constructed rye whiskey, in need of a little more age to make it a good sipper but definitely bold and flavorful enough for an elevated cocktail.

  • In the end, I feel like this product is fine. It’s not truly exciting me, but there is nothing wrong with it.

  • Nose:

Bold rye spice, tons of honey, ginger, sweet cream and a pop of herbal funk, orange peel and acidity.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel, rich rye character, brown sugar, orange peel and a touch of anise and black tea. It’s punchy, the ABV hides nicely behind maple, caramel, fresh rye bread.

  • Finish:

Long finish, the best part for certain, great combination of sweetness, rye spice and pleasant oakiness.

  • Overall:

While the bourbon was just fine, this rye reaches well beyond it, in no small part due to bump in proof and a pleasant tannin influence. Punchy rye from Kentucky? Pour another.
