  • I personally would not pay $999 for a bottle of this, but it's a good whiskey — balanced and quite enjoyable.

  • Nose:

The nose is oaky, soft and inviting — like warm oak with butter melting on it, plus vanilla, plenty of malt character and some berry notes — raspberry and blueberry, primarily.

  • Taste:

Moderate mouthfeel. Lots of oaky and malt notes. Graham cracker, oak and tannin, peach, raspberry. The tokaji finish is subtle but present, delivering some smoked and fruity notes, plus a faint mushroomy earthiness.

  • Finish:

Long, buttery finish that opens with barrel char before segueing into charred peach and a dry white wine-esque profile, with apple skin and apricot, plus white peach and oak.

  • Overall:

A pleasant, well-aged malt with character. I personally would not pay $999 for a bottle of this, but it's a good whiskey — balanced and quite enjoyable.

  • Score:

    91
