Kavalan Master's Select Reserve No.1 is a Taiwanese single malt whisky produced at the Kavalan Distillery in Yilan County and released in April 2024 exclusively for global travel retail. It blends ex-Bourbon barrels with lightly peated STR casks, where STR refers to Kavalan's proprietary Shave-Toast-Rechar oak treatment technique. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV and retails for around $110 for a 1-liter bottle.
Aromas and flavors of black tea and incense, dried nuts and baking spices, old leather furniture and dusty oak shelves, and dried red fruits with a velvety, vibrant, dry medium body and a warming, refreshing, medium-long finish displaying notes of dried orange zest, dried figs in black tea, leather and oak dust, and five spice dusted apricot and blistered shishito peppers.
