Distilleria dell'Alpe, founded in 1948 in Bastia d’Alpago in the Italian Alps, is known for its alpine-inspired recipes, including the original Kapriol liqueur and Gin Forestal. In 2002, the Maschio family, historical producers from Conegliano, acquired the distillery and in 2016 introduced a modern line of Kapriol Gin. Kapriol Dry Gin Artigianale Italiano, produced in San Pietro di Feletto, Veneto, is made using juniper berries, bay leaves, angelica, chamomile, cardamom, caraway, coriander, gentian, lavender, hops, mint, oregano, rosehip, rosemary and a wheat-based distillate. Juniper and herbs are infused in wheat-based alcohol at room temperature for 15 days before distillation in 1940s wood-fired bain-marie copper stills. Hops, bay leaves and oregano are cold-distilled separately. This gin hosts a suggested retail price of $31.
