A blind review - let's see how this new Japanese whiskey on the market does. Mizunara (also spelled Misunara) is a rare Japanese wood that's incredibly hard to work with, and also expensive, so it's become quite the novelty in recent years.
Actually, it was pretty good on the palate. A higher voltage and it would have reached the 80-mark in my book. Could it be that this one was really Japanese?
The finish is chewy, sweeter than it would let on, and with a slightly vegetal undertone, reminiscent of Japanese pickles, and lots of black tea flavors. Really interesting stuff — a youthful counterpart to some of Japan’s more mainstream products.
Interesting. Pretty thin, without a ton of really exceptional character. It's not offensive or particularly bad, but there's little shining here to help it stand out in a universe of bland whiskeys.
Medium, hot, bitter, and sour fruits. Malty, mild pepper.
