For my money, the blend drinks like a mixer. This becomes problematic when paired with a premium price point. The simple fact of the matter is that there is nothing Gold Label Reserve does well that other Walker Labels do not do better.
It's another blend that seems to bear more peat and pepper. It's less full than the Double Black in my opinion but the peatiness on the palate works very well.
Not the most complex thing in the world, but surprisingly complex for a Walker. I think the Green is still my favorite so far, but this wasn’t half bad.
Think mouthfeel but no heat. Sweet vanilla, cake, mild apple pear. Faint brine, butter cream and the faintest hint of some smoke.
Finish:
Medium length. Gentle smoke, pepper, sea breeze. Lemon butter cream, cake-y notes. Overall its sweet, faintly briney and smokey.
Overall:
Not the most complex thing in the world, but surprisingly complex for a Walker. I think the Green is still my favorite so far, but this wasnt half bad.
