  • It’s hard to tell exactly how Ice Chalet differs from regular Blue Label without trying them both side by side, but this version is very tasty and stands on its own.

  • All told, this is a unique — if wholly unexpected — edition from the House of Walker that proves it has plenty of innovation — and exotic whisky — left in the tank.

  • Nose:

Gentle nose with lots of waxed fruits — apples, pears, apricot — as well as peat smoke, honey, prunes, cinnamon toast slathered in melted butter and balsamic vinegar.

  • Taste:

Delicious, rich, buttery palate. It's got a great viscosity for 86 proof. A solid oak spine throughout the pour is surrounded by vanilla, brown sugar, char, leather, waffle cone, rich caramel and honeycrisp apple.

  • Finish:

Super long finish with barrel char, honey, waffle cone, cinnamon, saline, pepper, a touch of tobacco and wafts of gentle peat smoke.

  • Overall:

Delicious and sweet, this blended scotch is extremely accessible; novices and hardcore enthusiasts alike will enjoy sipping this. It's very tasty with plenty of complexity — I could sip it all night.

  • Score:

    88
