  • Like Bushmills, it was quite average and plenty good to mix, but drinking neat was just not as enjoyable despite being a bit more bold.

  • The pepperiness lingers through the finish, along with vanilla, honey, straw, and dried flowers.

  • Malt and alcohol with a touch of oak and earth. It has a very short finish which I don’t really mind in this case.

  • No bad whiskey for sure, but this may not be for us hardcore malt freaks. Well, certainly not.

  • Expect Braeburn apples, raspberry, strawberry, currants, and mixed peel, with a short finish of cinnamon spice and a dull fruit note.

  • There is a bitterness to the finish but that can be squashed quickly if you take another sip.

  • Served neat, it’s got some heat, but that quickly fades and leaves you with the guts of the drink, a citrus- and honey-laced classic whiskey that’s real surprise comes with the inclusion of a minty character throughout the body.

  • This golden whiskey has a dried apricot aroma and vanilla-forward palate with hints of smoke and clove on the exhale, plus palpable alcohol heat.

  • It's inexpensive, uninspiring for the most part and goes down fairly easy - though there is far better Irish, especially from Midleton, that exists and I'd encourage you to seek out those bottlings when you're looking to celebrate with a bottle of Irish.

  • Nose:

Sweet, lactic, a bit of bitterness and some honey. Rising bread, lemon zest, honey and tea.

  • Taste:

Sweet on the palate, some honey, rising bread, caramel and some green tea notes. Honestly not so bad, it's extremely inoffensive and boring, but there is some good flavor here and there.

  • Finish:

Short finish. Kind of falls apart here. Sweet, lightly lactic and bitter, a hint of sourdough and pepper.

  • Overall:

Jameson is the shot slammed 'round the world and reasonably so. It's inexpensive, uninspiring for the most part and goes down fairly easy - though there is far better Irish, especially from Midleton, that exists and I'd encourage you to seek out those bottlings when you're looking to celebrate with a bottle of Irish.
