  • Sporting a total maturation in excess of 7 years, this particular Hudson Whiskey is a noticeable improvement over earlier releases. However, coming with a price of $70, consumers have numerous better rye whiskey options at their disposal.

  • It’s not particularly complex, but Hudson's calvados-finished rye is a nice dark, spicy whiskey. The calvados is relatively tame but mixes nicely with the rye, adding some lovely sweetness.

  • Nose:

    Pure spicy rye on the nose with loads of pepper, plus some cardamom and clove, lavender tea and some lemon curd

  • Taste:

    Some sweet apple character meets peppery rye, with lots of clove, peppercorn, tobacco and sassafras

  • Finish:

    Sweet apple pie leads a long finish, joined by clove, pepper and cinnamon

  • Overall:

    It’s not particularly complex, but Hudson's calvados-finished rye is a nice dark, spicy whiskey. The calvados is relatively tame but mixes nicely with the rye, adding some lovely sweetness.
